Limnology Prints Richard Skelton
Special Edition

‘What line did the river first write in the valley?
What sense, made over and over, now senseless?’

These prints are an outpouring from Richard’s Limnology book about rivers, lakes and other inland waterways. Each work is palimpsestic in nature – a landscape of ‘water words’ formed from the Limnology glossary is overwritten by an almost asemic patterning of characters, highlighting the destructive and obstructive action of riverine processes.

This series of Limnology prints were commissioned by the Paul Stolper gallery for the 2013 exhibition series, The Silence Between. Thirty sets of prints were produced by the artist, five of which are now available for sale through Corbel Stone Press.
